Probezeit is the probationary period written into many German employment contracts. Length varies; six months is common but not universal. During this time, notice periods are often shorter for both sides.
For graduates, Probezeit is less a test of loyalty and more a structured settling-in window. Supervisors watch reliability, teamwork, and whether you ask for clarification early. Documenting your tasks and seeking feedback after the first weeks reduces surprises later.
